Campbell Town to Conara

This project will improve safety between Campbell Town and Conara. Works will include road widening, Junction improvement, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

  • Project Type: lane separation and additional lanes
  • Start of works: end 2022
  • Completion of works: end 2023
  • Early planning work is currently underway. This includes environment, heritage and engineering survey work.

Cleveland to Epping Forest

This project will improve safety between Cleveland and Epping Forest. Works will include road widening, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

  • Completion of works: end 2024
  • Early planning work is currently underway. This includes environment, heritage and engineering survey work.

Epping Forest to Powranna

This project will improve the safety of the section of road between Epping Forest to Powranna. Works will include road widening, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes, improved junctions and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Esk Main Road Junction

This project will improve road safety with the installation of a north bound acceleration lane for heavy vehicles turning north from Esk Main Road.

Kempton to Melton Mowbray (Stage 1 and 2)

This project will improve safety between Kempton and Melton Mowbray. Works will include road widening, extending sealed shoulders, four new overtaking lanes, improved junctions and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Kings Meadows connector roundabout

This project installed a roundabout to improve road safety and efficiency on the Kings Meadows connector and reduce queuing back to the Midland Highway.

Macquarie River (Ross) to Campbell Town

This project will improve safety between Macquarie River (Ross) and Campbell Town. Works will include road widening, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Mangalore to Bagdad Stage 1 (Bagdad)

This project will improve the safety of the section of road in the vicinity of Bagdad. Works are now complete and included a central turning lane through Bagdad, median with flexible safety barrier in the 100 km/hr section north of Bagdad and wider sealed shoulders.

Mangalore to Bagdad Stage 2 (Mangalore)

This project will improve the safety of the highway between the Pontville roundabout and Eddington Road.

This project will improve the safety of the highway between the Pontville roundabout and Eddington Road. It is designed to balance the needs of road users and local residents, ensuring safety for both.

Melton Mowbray to Lovely Banks Road

This project will improve safety between Melton Mowbray and Lovely Banks Road through road widening, extending sealed shoulders, and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Mud Walls Road

This project improved road safety by upgrading the left turn facility at the Mud Walls Road junction

North and South of Spring Hill

These projects improved road safety by road widening to install a flexible safety barrier and extend sealed shoulders.

North of Mona Vale Road to Macquarie River (Ross)

This project will improve safety between north of Mona Vale Road and Macquarie River at Ross through road widening, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Oatlands to York Plains Road

This project will improve safety between south of Oatlands and York Plains Road. Works will include road widening, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions. The project will have an approximate length of 9km.

Perth Link Roads

This project will improve safety in the town of Perth by providing a new link to remove heavy vehicles travelling between the south of the state and Burnie port from the township. It will also include installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Perth-Breadalbane dual carriageway

The Perth-Breadalbane dual carriageway will provide a four lane highway from Perth to link in with the Midland Highway north of the Breadalbane roundabout.

  • Main construction works started February 2016

South of Kempton

This project improved road safety by road widening to install a flexible safety barrier and extend sealed shoulders.

South of Tunbridge Stage 2

These projects improved safety by easing a curve south of Tunbridge, providing an additional southbound overtaking lane and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Spring Hill

This project will improve the safety of the 3.5 km length of the Midland Highway over Spring Hill, between the recently completed works south of Spring Hill and north of Spring Hill.

St Peters Pass to South of Tunbridge

This project will improve the safety of the section of road between St Peters Pass and south of Tunbridge. This will involve road alignment and junction improvements, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

Symmons Plains to south of Perth

This project will improve the safety of the section of road between Symmons Plains and south of Perth. Works will include; road widening, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes, improved junctions and installing flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions.

White Lagoon (Tunbridge) to Mona Vale

This project will improve safety between Tunbridge and Mona Vale. Works will include road widening, extending sealed shoulders, additional overtaking lanes, improved junctions, installation of flexible safety barrier to eliminate head on collisions, and improving the alignment at the Mona Vale end.

York Plains to St Peters Pass

This project includes a 5 km length of highway starting approximately 2km south of York Plains Road and continuing to the St Peters Pass Rest Area.
